Embarkation:
- As you approach the pier:
Whether you arrive on the Port Saint Louis du Rhône or Salin de Giraud side, two lanes are available:
- the right lane general public
- the left lane reserved for subscribers
- Both lanes are equipped with a barrier and two-color traffic lights regulating access:
Depending on the capacity of the ferry and the crowd, the system will authorize the boarding of the corresponding number of vehicles taking into account their size (car, bus, trucks).
- Only, when the R23J light is flashing orange:
Start/Continue the route in order to board. Always at a suitable speed, without sticking too closely to the vehicle in front of you.
If the light turns red, you must stop even if the barrier is still open because it has started its closing cycle and will go down.
Once on the ferry deck, follow the instructions of the on-board staff.
- Payment of the crossing fare
Payment for the crossing is made on board, after boarding, to the crew members who will come your way.
You can pay in cash or by credit card.
Disembarkation:

- Only when the barrier opens:
Continuez la route afin de débarquer. Always at a suitable speed, without sticking too closely to the vehicle in front of you.
Access control in detail • Barriers and lights
A control system has been installed on the access roads to the Barcarin ferry to give priority to subscribers. The design of this system meets the requirements of road regulations both in its operation and in terms of signaling. It has been approved by the competent services in this matter and has been fitted with the obligatory safety features.
To access the subscriber lane, present your vehicle at the specific location identified so that the control equipment detects your tag badge which must be placed in the specific area of your windshield and opens the barrier.
If, and only if, you are correctly identified, the barrier opens automatically and you can move forward in line.
Depending on the capacity of each ferry, the system will authorize the boarding of the corresponding number of vehicles taking into account their size (car, bus, trucks).
For the system to function properly, it is IMPERATIVE to follow a few simple rules of general interest.
You MUST RESPECT the two-color traffic lights. A light that turns red means the barrier will close in two seconds so STOP.
Driving the wrong way, on the exit lane, is dangerous: it is prohibited by traffic regulations and the Constable may fine you because it is your responsibility. Furthermore, this distorts the count.
If the interval between vehicles is too long, the system assimilates it to an absence and orders the lane to be closed before opening the other barrier. This is intended to not delay boarding. For your safety, be careful not to get too close to the vehicle in front of you.
Have a suitable speed. It is limited to 50 km/h when entering the tracks and must be lowered to 20 km/h for boarding. If you drive too fast, THE AUTOMATION AND SAFETY SYSTEMS MAY NOT REACT PROPERLY.
The closing device is designed to close without force so as not to cause significant damage. It is equipped with a safety device which gives the opening command. It is for this reason that it can happen that both barriers are open simultaneously.
